im buying a wedding ring but which fits best? 10pts to best answer!?

August 7, 2009

i have a princess cut past, present and future engagement ring. its really big (my fiance did a good job lol). originally i wanted a plain wedding band. real thin and just yellow gold but with the engagement ring that i have, you can’t even see the wedding ring!

im not sure on what kind of wedding ring to get? i want something not too expensive because we’re saving for the wedding and etc.. but i also don’t want anything cheap.

i was thinking maybe like 5 princess cut diamonds on a yellow gold band (my engagement ring is yellow gold)?

any advice?
anyone have a past, present and future engagement ring?

10 points to best answer.
EDIT:

to > MRS. TO BE — i would’ve thought he would know what to show me but when i went, he didn’t show me anything good. i was iffy about the ring so we didn’t purchase it right then and there but i have a clue as to what i want but haven’t seen any pics of it online. i’ve been searching. i know its like 5 smaller diamonds and i want them princess cut.

My e-ring has a solitaire, with smaller shoulder stones. The matching wedding band has three of the smaller stones, spaced a bit so they match with the width of the stones on the e-ring. It looks the best that way.

Check with the store where he bought it to see if there IS a matching wedding band.
For fit/match, it may depend on the setting of your stones, if the centre one sticks out, especially.
Otherwise, maybe channel-set

You can get a different thickness of simple yellow gold band to make it "stand out" a little better.

You could also get more of anniversary band type that has diamonds inset along the entire ring. I believe it is called an "eternity ring" since the diamonds never stop, along with the ring.

(My engagement ring was a simple round solitare, and for our wedding band, we basically created the "three stone" ring) For a future anniversary, we are planning on getting the eternity ring and I have seen it with my rings…it looks wonderful.

here is an example:

You can also browse the websites of jewelry stores and see what they have paired with 3-stone rings.

I have the 3 stone ring, princess cut, with a couple smaller stones on each side.
There is a specific band that should go with it, and I’m sure the jeweler knows just which one.
It will be a band of about 5 or so princess cut stones. The width of the band will match the width of the engagement ring(the metal part, not as wide as the stones of course)… it will look very classy and gorgeous.

Congrats!

I have a three stone ring with oval cut diamonds, and I had a hard time picking out a wedding band I liked due to the unique shape of the oval stones. I ended up going with something similar to what you’re describing. It’s a little thicker than your plain wedding band, with about ten small stones set into the channel of the band. Here’s a link:

It stands out from the engagement ring without taking away from it. I also tried on one with five larger stones like you’re talking about, but it was a little big. My ring is 1 carat, so yours may be bigger and the five stone may actually match better. Good luck!
