Princess Cut Wedding Ring

I really love the solitaire Princess Cut Diamond Rings (white gold and possibly one ct.) but when I get married I need a band to go along with it….

would a band with diamonds all around it look alright? Or would it be better to go with a plain white gold band?

thanks :)

I have a princess cut solitaire and I have an eternity ring with diamonds all the way round as my wedding band. They look stunning together.

When shopping for gifts, whether for ourselves or someone else, all of us are looking to save a few dollars. No matter what you’re shopping for, from a diamond engagement ring for popping the question to a scarf for Grandma – you will save big bucks by shopping online.

The key to maximizing your savings is knowing where to look to find the best bargain. And comparison shopping, by visiting various websites, is the only way to go. Instead of fighting the hustle and bustle that comes with comparison shopping at various brick-and-mortar locations, you can find better pricing options and cover more stores with the click of your mouse.

In the past, shipping and handling fees may have deterred you from shopping online, but retailers have started minimizing or waving those fees for customers who spend a certain collar amount. And while major retailers such as Wal-Mart, Best Buy and Macy’s have online websites, you may be able to stretch your dollar further by shopping with other established, smaller E-tailers.

Here are some examples of price comparisons between different websites and traditional brick-and-mortar retailers.

Tool Time

If you’re shopping for the handyman or woman in the family, finding the right gift can be rather tricky. Because they are sure to already have their own favorite tools, and even many of the latest gadgets that can simplify their work, you may be thinking that a gift certificate to Home Depot, Lowe’s or a local hardware store is the best way to go.

But before you decide to do that, consider buying a gift that the tool guru may find useful, but would not consider buying for themselves. The Black and Decker Storm Station is the perfect emergency prep tool for when the power goes out. Currently, Home Depot listed a price of $99.97. But http://Amazon.com lists a price of $74.88. Here, you will save more than $25 by ordering online instead of going to a traditional retailer.

On Bended Knee

If you’re thinking of popping the question, consider this: if she says yes, the cost of a wedding can range from $10,000 to $50,000 and beyond. Why not get your marriage off to the right start by saving money on your diamond engagement ring?

By ordering online, you can literally save hundreds of dollars. A half-carat princess cut three-stone diamond purchased at a brick-and-mortar retailer in a mid-sized metro area can cost around $2,250. But if you order a similar ring from Blue Nile, an online jewelry retailer, you can save a little money – their cost is closer to $2,200.

But your diamond engagement ring purchase, the ultimate in romantic gift ideas for her, is a perfect example of how finding the bargain E-tailer can add up to big savings. At http://danforthdiamond.com, an online jewelry retailer specializing in diamond jewelry, a similar ring costs around $1,600 – a savings of $600! That’s enough money for a down payment on a honeymoon to Costa Rica.

Trendy Fendi

Handbags are big business, and there are few women who will show displeasure with the gift of a high-end designer handbag. Shopping online, you can find Coach, Gucci, Dooney & Burke, Prada and Fendi handbags. And while there are knock-off imitations you can purchase for significantly less money, if you do your homework by taking the time to do research on the web, you can save money and still get the real thing.

If you went the usual route and visited Neiman Marcus to purchase a designer handbag for your fashionista, the Fendi Canvas Du’Jour handbag would cost you $1,400. However, if you visited http://overstock.com, a popular online discount retail site, you would find the same bag for $1029.99 – a savings of more than $350.

If you wanted to save even more money, you could sign her up for an account at http://www.bagborroworsteal.com and give a gift certificate to the site instead of a handbag. This company is the Netflix of handbags, and recipients borrow or “rent” designer handbags for one week to one month at a time, paying a fee ranging, on average, between $30 and $300. This way, instead of owning one designer handbag that will eventually no longer be in style, she can periodically upgrade her designer look by changing designer purses as often as needed.

Diamonds for the Heart

So you’re not going to pop the question. But keep in mind that jewelry of any kind is sure to make her smile. There are hundreds of romantic gift ideas that include jewelry, but a diamond heart pendant is a classic gift that she will always treasure.

Once again, the E-tailers come out ahead on price when looking for a quality diamond heart necklace. At Zales, a well-known brick-and-mortar jewelry chain, you will pay about $700 for the necklace. At Blue Nile, you will pay significantly less at $600. But if you are looking to save even more money, you can do it at http://DanforthDiamond.com, where you’ll find a comparable diamond heart pendant for $560. This ever-popular jewelry piece, a product available at most jewelry retailers, demonstrates that taking the time to find the best bargains online is certainly worth the time.

As you can see, saving money by shopping online keeps a lot of your dollars in your pocket. But, you must comparison shop to find the quality discount E-tailers that will give you the best value for you money. Happy shopping!

He’s in college and is paying for that himself and we’re trying to save for a house. (Don’t even start yelling about age. He has 1.5 years left, and we may not even get engaged until after he graduates. Definitely won’t marry until we have enough for a wedding and a house. But he has enough saved for engagement, if we wanted to now) So I wanted to choose a ring that wouldn’t burden him with the cost. Even if he had enough to buy me a $10k ring, I wouldn’t want to buy a pricy one. That’s just how I am. I would feel guilty. I noticed that most people have solitaires, and the cost of those are really expensive. But, I really don’t like them and I hate being like everyone else :)
So I was looking at less expensive rings. But really couldn’t find any I liked, until I came across this ring:
http://www.kay.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product1|10101|10001|-1|990544708|15051|15051.15057.15108
And I just fell in love with it. Everywhere we have been, I cannot find any ring to top this one. Not even the REALLY expensive rings. Well it’s $700 at Kay’s, as you can see. But we went to Jared’s and they have the same exact ring for $580. I would have posted a link, but Jared’s doesn’t have princess cut posted.
And I like something like this for a band:
http://www.kay.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product1|10101|10001|-1|80164724|15051|15051.15058.15111
At first, I thought it might "too flashy" paired with the ring. But when I tried them on together it was just beautiful.
So that is 580 and 280. That’s $860 for both rings. Does that seem like a lot? After tax and insurance, it will cost over $1,000. That seems like A LOT of money. And I don’t want to be a spoiled b*tch and make him get this ring since it’s the only one I really love. So if that is too much for the typical costs, I will keep searching for a smaller ring. But honestly, I feel like it is pretty decent compared to most people. I mean, a 1/2 carat solitaire would cost double the price.

So what do you think? Is $1,000 too much for an engagement ring and wedding ring, after tax and insurance?
And we’re not interested in buying smaller now and "upgrading" in a couple years for a more flashy ring. My boyfriend is very bent on the fact that THAT is the ring we will be married with. So if we take that away and buy another one, even adding bigger stones or put the old stones in other jewelry, it just wouldn’t be right. I feel the same way.
Oh, and he said just let him know which ring I like, and not to worry so much about the price. So the price scare is all from me, not him. Lol.
But my thinking is, why spend a few thousand on a ring, when you can save some of that towards a better house or car, you know? Same will go with the wedding. I’m going to find every way possible to save money so that’s more towards a house!

Thanks for the answers so far.

I personally think that not only are those rings beautiful, but that you are a very intelligent person and that you two will do fine. I applaud you for understanding that marriage is about love and not getting the biggest ring around. The price that you are going to spend on your ring can only be decided by you and your boo, but I think that you are fine with what you have chosen. Good Luck!

I have a ring that is a princess cut and long baguettes on the side. Like this one but the baguettes are twice as long:

http://selahjewelry.com/jewelry/diamond_rings/SJDRG-3C.jpg

when I try on regular bands there is a gap from where the baguettes are and the band, so to me it looks funny. I was hoping they made guards for this type of ring but I haven’t been successful in finding any links. Will someone help?? Thanks in advance!!

That looks very similar to my ring. This is the band I went with

http://www.helzberg.com/product/1-4ct+tw+chevron+diamond+ring+1614239.do?keyword=chevron&sortby=newArrivals

They have the curved ones as well but they weren’t lining up beside that ring so I had to go to the chevron style. You’ll have to try it on but here is the curved one

A ring guard helps with the sizing. I bought mine on ebay that just slide in the bottom. They also have plastic clear ones that snap on the band. Or you can use the gel stuff but I think that feels sorta like Jello against my finger. The metal ones are really cheap and are even sold at Walmart for like $3.

i have a princess cut past, present and future engagement ring. its really big (my fiance did a good job lol). originally i wanted a plain wedding band. real thin and just yellow gold but with the engagement ring that i have, you can’t even see the wedding ring!

im not sure on what kind of wedding ring to get? i want something not too expensive because we’re saving for the wedding and etc.. but i also don’t want anything cheap.

i was thinking maybe like 5 princess cut diamonds on a yellow gold band (my engagement ring is yellow gold)?

any advice?
anyone have a past, present and future engagement ring?

10 points to best answer.
EDIT:

to > MRS. TO BE — i would’ve thought he would know what to show me but when i went, he didn’t show me anything good. i was iffy about the ring so we didn’t purchase it right then and there but i have a clue as to what i want but haven’t seen any pics of it online. i’ve been searching. i know its like 5 smaller diamonds and i want them princess cut.

My e-ring has a solitaire, with smaller shoulder stones. The matching wedding band has three of the smaller stones, spaced a bit so they match with the width of the stones on the e-ring. It looks the best that way.

Check with the store where he bought it to see if there IS a matching wedding band.
For fit/match, it may depend on the setting of your stones, if the centre one sticks out, especially.
Otherwise, maybe channel-set

I am going through a divorce and need some money ASAP, so I want to sell my wedding ring set. It’s a 1 carat princess cut solitaire with a thick white gold band/setting, and the wedding band is a total 1 carat (I believe, maybe 3/4) with 8 princess cut diamonds and white gold. They are only about 1 year old. I’m not sure how much they sold for, but I think it was close to $4K. I’ve never done the whole pawning/selling thing so I have no idea how much I would get for it or what the process is. Unfortunately, I don’t have the original paperwork on the rings either. How would I go about getting the right amount of money for these and how much would I get?? I just need someone to explain the whole process to me too. Thanks!

A pawn broker is going to give you Maybe 1/10th of the value of the rings. A $4000.00 ring set might get you $300.00 or $400.00.

I’d look into a jewelry consignment shop, if they have one near. You’re a little more likely to get about 1/2 of what you spent on it that way.

Maybe even advertise in the newspaper. You might get 2/3 to 3/4 of the value if you find a bargain-minded buyer.

Pawn shops are horrible rip offs. They pay lowball prices, then mark the stuff up to barely 10% off retail value when reselling.
