Princess Cut Engagement Rings

Actually I am not getting married but my best friend is. We were talking about different kinds of rings and he mentioned the Princess Cut Diamond Engagement Rings. They seem pretty pricey.

What kind of princess ring is a good deal but less than 2000 bucks?
And just a side question, what is the big deal about princess cut rings vs other kinds of rings?

My husband spent about 3 month’s salary on my engagement ring. I know that a lot of guys spend less…but I am glad that he went the extra mile.

Princess cut is just the shape of the diamond…it is a square. It is no more or no less expensive compared to the same exact diamond in another shape. Round diamonds actually sparkle more than princess.

I received a princess cut engagement ring. My mother wants to give me the diamonds from her wedding band to put in my wedding band and my fiance’s wedding band. I would like all the stones to be the same shape – princess. Is this possible?

Yes
Unless there are all sorts of flaws in the stone, a good jeweler should be able to make it into a princess cut, however, it will be smaller after it is cut

I prefer the round or ‘brilliant’ cut as they call it because that shape is timeless, it’s not a trend. It tends to sparkle a LOT more than a princess cut diamond as well.

Ask your jeweler to look at both under a microscope so you can see the difference in shine (your eyes work too but the microscope gives you a better idea.

If you saw the princess and fell in love with it though go for that. You have to follow your heart and sometimes no matter what logical reasoning someone else has for making the opposite decision it won’t sway your mind. Please make sure though that you aren’t getting the princess cut diamond because of it’s name, it does sound pretty but that’s kinda the idea.
