Princess Cut Diamond Engagement Rings

Thinking about getting engaged soon and I’ve began looking for rings. It looks to me that it would be best to get a ring online. Any suggestion of online sites or any good stores located in southern VA or northern NC. Looking for an Princess cut, ideal cut, H or better color, VS2 or better clarity, around .75 carats and am trying to keep it under $2000.

I recommend starting with a diamond search engine that will check diamond inventory at 10 or so retailers (Blue Nile, James Allen, Mondera, Amazon, etc.) all at the same time. I like http://www.diamondpriceguru.com/ but there’s also Pricescope and some other smaller ones. I plugged in the stats you provided (princess cut, ideal cut grade, H or better color, VS2 or better clarity, under $2,000, and I used a carat range of .75-.80). It found 14 loose diamonds that matched your description. You can click on the individual diamonds to learn more about them (depth percentage, girdle thickness, fluorescence info, measurements, etc.). And you can play around with the description to narrow it down more, if you like. And it doesn’t ask for personal info, like some sites do.

Anyway, the diamond search engines are great for finding the prices of what you want and which companies have them. After that, I suggest clicking through to the individual retailers’ sites to look at the settings. You don’t have to buy the setting at the same place you buy the loose diamond; you can combine diamond and setting at your local jeweler, etc. But most retailers have a reasonable range of settings. Usually there’s a "build a ring" or "design a ring" button to click and it gives you choices on metal type, basic style, etc.

I hope this helps.

Surveys show when it comes to engagement rings and wedding bands Platinum is her first choice. Because it’s a pure and naturally white metal, unlike white gold that isn’t truly white, platinum will enhance the sparkle and brilliance of a diamond. Platinum won’t fade or tarnish over time. For the guy who’s making the investment in the diamond – platinum will hold that stone more securely, that’s why the world’s most important diamonds are always set into platinum.  Look for your wedding bands at the same time as the engagement ring to see how all three rings work together and buy your wedding bands at least six months before the wedding.

There are so many styles of engagement rings…i don’t like the one I have….i feel its missing something.
What’s consider more beautiful…platinum, yellow or white gold? Solitaire round, princess cut, or emerald?

I personally like the round cut but sometimes I think the princess cut is nice too. What’s yours? Also what size diamond do you feel most comfortable with. 1 carot seem just right to me. Larger ones seems to hook into sweaters and get in the way.

my first engagement ring was an emerald cut 1/2 carat and it caught the light and sparkled wonderfully. The size was perfect on my hand
Unfortunately, I loved the ring more than the guy, so I gave it back.
I’ve been married 27 years and have a 1/4 carat that is round and is lovely and I love the guy still! I hope you try on some before you settle./

Mine is princess because it is so elegant and round cut is just so common everywhere I go mall, college, work I see the same round cut it’s just so boring and plain.

I love Emerald and Asscher cut diamonds.

I am looking for about a 2-carat center princess cut diamond ring with a small band with diamonds all the way around, good quality. Can anyone give me an idea of how much this will be? I’ve tried looking on the net, but don’t have much luck finding any price range! Thanks!

You can design your ideal ring at www.bluenile.com

It’s a wonderful website that gives you all kinds of price ranges and options based on what you want and where to find the ring of your dreams.

Maybe something like this…
