where can i find a really beautiful diamond engagement ring? i dont really want to spend more than £2000, and i would really love a nice princess cut diamond.
have a look at this website. http://www.nathanjewellers.com/
i bought my wifes 15year aniversary ring from them. it was beautiful. the diamonds come with a certificate, and theyre so helpful. the price was great too!
ive had a look for the product you wanted, you could get a 0.70ct princess cut diamond in a platiinum band for £1875. whats good about this website is that you can select the type of stone and gold you want. check it out

My fiance and I are going through a really stressful situation with my engagement ring, here it goes:
My fiance paid nearly 10,000 (au) for my engagement ring. It is a solitaire marquis cut with a very high colour (E – second best) and a good cut. The clarity was an S12 but the jeweler reassured us that the inclusions wouldnt be visible, as did the GIA diamond certificate!
Unfortunately after a while of wearing the ring, we realised we have been ripped off. there are black dots (refered to as ‘black pepper’) in the diamond fully visible and we paid 10,000 for this ring!!
We are soooo angry and upset, as its a really sensitive thing for me. I cant bare to see these terrible inclusions on a ring that my fiance paid so much for, i couldnt care if it was a cheap ring but we deserve better!
We have been given 2 options:
- get in another diamond with the same specs no visible inclusions (how can we trust it)
- get a refund
The problem is with a refund that it was a rare design my engagement ring the setting and i know i wouldnt be able to replicate it
but how can i trust his word?
If anyone lives in Sydney and could give me a good place for high quality diamonds and rings to go to that would help heaps!!
I am really upset and i would like to know what would you do???
Kelly – Oh my gosh. Gregorys is what I am talking about lol
o0mrsavi: thanks for your advice but i definately educated myself on the 4Cs so this was not our fault, even the jeweler was suprised at what he saw, and it was not a figure of my imagination – geez!
epsilon: it never actually showed up until the diamond was dirty. it is very very hard to see when it is just clean and sparkly, thats the problem with pepper! i did trust his word and that is my mistake, but these inclusions werent even marked on the GIA cert unfortunately. i guess its the pick of the bunch!
I’m terribly sorry you are going through this. Its must be a very trying time with so much emotion involved.
I would be getting a refund for 2 reasons.
1. You don’t know whether this will happen again and whether he will be so willing to refund the next time!
2. It could take awhile to find you an eyeclean stone..your money will be tied up. He needs to find the stone first, then you pay.
When shopping for diamonds you need to look at the stone under a jewelers loupe of 10x magnification. Most jewelers have at least 30x magnifier in their shops. Did the jeweler loupe the stone himself?
Can you take some detailed photographs of the setting before returning it. Most skilled benchman can replicate something fairly accurately given a photo.
You could always try purchasing the diamond and setting or just the diamond online. There are many trusted online vendors who will run a stone through very stringent tests, give you high magnification photos and when they tell you the stone is eyeclean – it will be! They will also work to your definition of eyeclean.
Some vendors online offer a 10 day money back guarantee, a 1 year buy back at a % of original purchase price and a lifetime upgrade policy.
You could try these guys.

If you link to this website http://www.pricescope.com you will find Australians who have purchased online and talk about their experience in doing so…
Take heart…it is possible to find an eyeclean SI2 with a little patience.
I hope this issue is resolved quickly so you can put this all behind you.

He’s in college and is paying for that himself and we’re trying to save for a house. (Don’t even start yelling about age. He has 1.5 years left, and we may not even get engaged until after he graduates. Definitely won’t marry until we have enough for a wedding and a house. But he has enough saved for engagement, if we wanted to now) So I wanted to choose a ring that wouldn’t burden him with the cost. Even if he had enough to buy me a $10k ring, I wouldn’t want to buy a pricy one. That’s just how I am. I would feel guilty. I noticed that most people have solitaires, and the cost of those are really expensive. But, I really don’t like them and I hate being like everyone else
So I was looking at less expensive rings. But really couldn’t find any I liked, until I came across this ring:
http://www.kay.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product1|10101|10001|-1|990544708|15051|15051.15057.15108
And I just fell in love with it. Everywhere we have been, I cannot find any ring to top this one. Not even the REALLY expensive rings. Well it’s $700 at Kay’s, as you can see. But we went to Jared’s and they have the same exact ring for $580. I would have posted a link, but Jared’s doesn’t have princess cut posted.
And I like something like this for a band:
http://www.kay.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product1|10101|10001|-1|80164724|15051|15051.15058.15111
At first, I thought it might "too flashy" paired with the ring. But when I tried them on together it was just beautiful.
So that is 580 and 280. That’s $860 for both rings. Does that seem like a lot? After tax and insurance, it will cost over $1,000. That seems like A LOT of money. And I don’t want to be a spoiled b*tch and make him get this ring since it’s the only one I really love. So if that is too much for the typical costs, I will keep searching for a smaller ring. But honestly, I feel like it is pretty decent compared to most people. I mean, a 1/2 carat solitaire would cost double the price.
So what do you think? Is $1,000 too much for an engagement ring and wedding ring, after tax and insurance?
And we’re not interested in buying smaller now and "upgrading" in a couple years for a more flashy ring. My boyfriend is very bent on the fact that THAT is the ring we will be married with. So if we take that away and buy another one, even adding bigger stones or put the old stones in other jewelry, it just wouldn’t be right. I feel the same way.
Oh, and he said just let him know which ring I like, and not to worry so much about the price. So the price scare is all from me, not him. Lol.
But my thinking is, why spend a few thousand on a ring, when you can save some of that towards a better house or car, you know? Same will go with the wedding. I’m going to find every way possible to save money so that’s more towards a house!
Thanks for the answers so far.
I personally think that not only are those rings beautiful, but that you are a very intelligent person and that you two will do fine. I applaud you for understanding that marriage is about love and not getting the biggest ring around. The price that you are going to spend on your ring can only be decided by you and your boo, but I think that you are fine with what you have chosen. Good Luck!
I’m searching for an engagement ring, originally my girlfriend liked Tacori from ads and such but we saw some Kirk Kara rings in a store and liked them a lot, especially ones with lots of small detail work. She is quite fashionable/hip/knows-what’s-up (me… not so much) but she didn’t know whether she liked the round or princess cut more, is one of these more "in style" right now, and is one more likely to stay in style for a long time? Also, she preferred the rings with multiple stones (one on either side of the center stone) and I’ve seen Kirk Kara designs like this with both round and princess. Anyone have suggestions on which cut to go with, or other rings to look at besides Kirk Kara?
custom made is better, it shows her that you spent time in thinking and designing her ring to fit her.
